every day that i find new brazilian music is the BEST. DAY. EVER. my goodness.
have you ever heard of grupo revelacao?
listening to their live albums is making me euphorically happy right now. music from bahia (and rio de janeiro, like this group) -- my second home, the place that pulls at my heart strings, especially when i hear musica brasileira! i miss that down home samba street sound. i miss seeing the happiness in the faces of the people in the streets blasting this music from their cars and houses. i miss seeing them dance. i miss hearing all of the love in the lyrics, and i get a little taste of it when i hear brazilian music.
in short, when i need to ground myself and remember why life is so good, i know i can turn to some musica bahiana, and that instantly does the trick. what a blessing that is!
