captain moroni was a stud.

it's not a secret that i love captain moroni. i remember telling one of my good friends about my ancient crush on him, and she said, "the dude on top of the mormon temples?!" before proceeding to burst into laughter.

yes, it's kind of hilarious, but i admire that man. i've been reading in alma for the past little while, and it seems like every time they introduce or just talk about captain moroni and his qualities, he sounds so perfect. his name brings about images of champions and leaders. moroni is my nephew's middle name, and he's the champ.

seriously, though, check this out:

11 and moroni was a strong and a mighty man; he was a man of a perfect understanding; yea, a man that did not delight in bloodshed; a man whose soul did joy in the liberty and the freedom of his country, and his brethren from bondage and slavery;

12 yea, a man whose heart did swell with thanksgiving to his god, for the many privileges and blessings which he bestowed upon his people; a man who did labor exceedingly for the welfare and safety of his people.

13 yea, and he was a man who was firm in the faith of christ, and he had sworn with an oath to defend his people, his rights, and his country, and his religion, even to the loss of his blood.

he was awesome! he had his priorities straight -- family, faith, and liberty. of course, not everyone will have the luxury of marrying a military man like my sister or janet, but a man with similar conviction put to action like moroni's is pretty darn charming. every time i get to verses about moroni, i'm like, "he is the man." and so my husband will be: the man.

* yes, my gospel journal is usually this entertaining. if i'm not enjoying myself while learning about the gospel, there's probably a problem.
