i desire the simple things.

i am done pretending the blogspot logo is not as enticing as it truly is. i admit it: i have wanted my own url next to that logo in my browser for a long time, but i told myself i was done doing the whole online journaling/blogging thing. done. i mean, i've been consistently doing an actual offline journal for almost two years now. and i am in love with journals...but more on that later. the point is, i've been wanting a little space on the web to just post things or write things down that won't necessarily make it into my journal due to time constraints. this is an easy way to update people on my life since, sadly, i don't see the people i love the most as much as i want to. i guess it's part of that whole college thing. facebook notes are lame, and i don't want to make a website again (though i do miss being rock awesome at html and making graphics). so, here i am. i don't expect anyone to "follow" me or even comment often because, quite frankly, i rarely do so on other people's blogs anymore. i like to stalk blogs and read them casually. if you are the same way, then great. if not, that's all right, too.

this semester has been pretty crazy, but it's by far been the best one of my college career thus far. i'm taking 17 credits, with two of those being taken at a different college. i rarely get enough sleep during the week. i am a fan of naps in any form - ten-minute power naps in the library, half-hour naps on the couch in my living room, or two-hour naps in my bed. oh man, that sounds so good right now.

i recently joined an a capella group with my brother, and we rehearse four hours a week at the moment. we're still in the beginning stages of forming a group identity. we're pretty close to getting a high tenor, which we need to complete the sound we're looking for. i feel blessed to be in a group that (1) has members i click with, and (2) likes a lot of the same music i do. i can't tell you how long i've wanted to sing what i like to sing with a group of people, preferably peers. the level of musical chemistry we have so far is exciting. i can go to practice pretty tired and come out feeling rejuvenated and wondering where the time went. hurray!

the reason this semester is not driving me crazy is probably because of my roommates. one girl has been with me since january, and she's great because i can be my goofy self around her. the other two came in august and ended up being great comic reliefs. they remind me to be silly every once in a while, which has helped. oh, and one girl has blessed the apartment with her wii console. that has definitely helped us more than once. i've never been in an apartment where we all just come out one by one and pick up an instrument and start playing rock band. i'm usually on the drums or microphone. my roommates and i love to come out into the living room to do our homework and talk, too. that hasn't happened since freshman year, probably, and i don't talk to those girls as much as i used to. we love each other's company so much that we don't get things done like we should have. oops. i love that we have fun, though. it makes me happy in my heart.
